Jones wins 1st Cup pole in critical race

BRISTOL, Tenn. (AP) Erik Jones' timing was perfect for first career pole in the NASCAR Cup Series - at Bristol Motor Speedway, where he's fighting hard for a playoff position.

Keselowski closing truck team series

BRISTOL, Tenn. (AP) Brad Keselowski is closing his truck series team at the end of the season, a decision that in part came down to him losing money on the venture.

Brad Keselowski Racing has fielded trucks in NASCAR since 2008, and more than a dozen young drivers have come through his organization. His team has won nine Camping World Truck Series races and twice contended for the championship. Keselowski fields two full-time Fords - for Chase Briscoe and Austin Cindric - and has about 50 employees. Read More...

JTG Daugherty inks Buescher to extension

BRISTOL, Tenn. (AP) JTG Daugherty Racing has signed Chris Buescher to a multiyear contract extension to drive the No. 37 Chevrolet.

Buescher began as a development driver with Roush Fenway Racing. He competed in the ARCA Racing Series for five years, won the ARCA Championship in 2012 and moved to the Xfinity Series in 2014. Read More...

Kyle Busch overcomes foul for Truck win

BRISTOL, Tenn. (AP) Kyle Busch overcame a pit-road speeding penalty to win the Camping World Truck Series race Wednesday night at Bristol Motor Speedway for his 178th victory in NASCAR's top three series.

After starting from the pole and winning the first two stages on the 0.533-mile oval, Busch started the final stage in 17th after the penalty dropped him to the back of the lead lap. He flew through the field on the high side in his Kyle Busch Motorsports Toyota, regaining the lead about halfway through the 90-lap stage in the race that started about two hours late because of rain. Read More...

Darlington towers to honor Earnhardts

DARLINGTON, S.C. (AP) Darlington Raceway will debut Earnhardt Towers to honor the late Dale Sr. and his son, Dale Jr., at the Southern 500 next month.

Patrick to honor Yates at Darlington

COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) Danica Patrick will honor NASCAR Hall of Fame inductee Robert Yates at NASCAR's throwback weekend at Darlington Raceway for the Southern 500.

Patrick's No. 10 Ford will feature the paint scheme used by Yates' driver Dale Jarrett on the way to the 1999 NASCAR series championship. The Southern 500 will take place Sept. 3. Read More...
